EDN: Today’s LEDs — What’s responsible for the improvements. It says today’s LEDs are twice as efficient as 5 years ago.
“Key developments in LED manufacturing, specifically enhanced equipment, improved processes and superior materials, have allowed the latest generation of LEDs to provide a powerful combination of excellent light output, visual performance and space savings. Let’s look at each development closer.”
If you’ve got an asthma problem, working in a LED cleanroom might be a good target. Reducing the contaminant risk during manufacture is just one of the many incremental improvements used to get better color, higher efficiencies, smaller sizes, and reduced cost for LEDs. It is a good example of the many many small changes that get us ever more for ever less.
